St. Joseph Health Lead Medical Technologist - Full Time/Days in Lubbock, Texas

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and/or Laboratory Manager, plans, directs, and supervises all technical and operational activities performed in his/her respective section(s).

Essential Functions:

  1. Plans, organizes, and oversees the performance and reporting of all testing procedures in the


  1. Maintains a program of maintenance on all equipment, quality control, quality assurance, and

safety in accordance with CAP, JACHO, AABB, FDA and state regulations as appropriate.

  1. Schedules all the division’s operation and looks at areas where cost might be reduced.

  2. Develops policies and procedures relating to assigned areas.

  3. Responsible for employee development and performance in assigned department(s).

  4. Ensures accurate and timely results of all procedures performed in the department(s).

  5. Ensures needed communication to hospital personnel, medical staff, and intra- and inter-

department is timely, correct, and properly disseminated.

  1. Stays abreast of all new technology in their area of expertise as well as all educational

programs in the department(s).

  1. Reviews and monitors the workload statistical reports and other requested reports.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: Baccalaureate degree or equivalent to meet CLIA requirements for a General Supervisor.

Experience: Sufficient clinical laboratory experience to perform accurately and precisely the assigned work; and above average technical skills. Moderate amount of reasoning ability, concentration, decision making and judgment required.

License / Certification: MT(ASCP) or equivalent.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Certification by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

One [1] year work experience in a clinical laboratory, preferrably a hospital setting.

Minimum four [4] years in a clinical laboratory following licensure or certification.
