Penn State Health’s Ophthalmology team is searching for the next Orthoptist to join our Eye Center team providing advanced care!
The Orthoptist will join a group of experts consisting of sixteen ophthalmologists, four optometrists, and two Orthoptists providing twelve specialty services to both pediatric and adult patients.
As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Orthoptist is responsible for the performance of complex and various ophthalmic tests and evaluations. Our Orthoptists evaluate and treat adult and pediatric patients with problems related to ocular motility, binocular vision, amblyopia, or strabismus. Additionally, our Orthoptists evaluate, diagnose, or treat disorders of the visual system with an emphasis on binocular vision or abnormal eye movements.
A Bachelor's Degree required.
Completion of a (2) year postgraduate approved program in Orthoptics required.
Certification as an Orthoptist by the American Orthoptic Council required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent active listening, critical thinking, and oral & written communication skills required
Ability to solve complex problems required.
