The Capital and Engineering organization is a new function within Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™ that is chartered to deliver capital solutions, engineering, and project execution expertise across the Ag Division, for both the Crop Protection and Seeds Platforms.

Purpose of the role

The Construction Officer / Engineer for EMEA shall manage and coordinate all construction activities and / or on specific project(s) at EMEA. Site will have strategic alliance with EPCM / EPC companies directly managing the contractors. As an active member during FEL-2 and FEL3 planning and documentation process, the ideal candidate shall assure construction contracting strategies meet both project and business objectives, engage the EPCM/EPC companies for constructability input to the design effort in addition to project schedule, quality requirements and cost control strategies. He/she shall also monitor and approve completeness of contractor activities and payment for completed work.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize complex, multi-disciplineconstruction projects (both expansion of existing plants and constructionof the new ones), allocation of resources / schedules.

  • Assure Construction Contracting Processes for capitalprojects in France and EMEA region are tactically aligned to the siteEPC/EPCM / regional strategy.

  • Assure safety, schedule, quality of work, costperformance and change management of all field construction activities onthe project.

  • Monitors and tracks contractor work for quality andcompleteness. Provides progress reports on construction activitiesto Project Leadership.

  • Sets expectations for contractors, assures Businessobjectives are met and audits contractor’s performance.

  • Provides input on equipment and materials marshallingat the construction site. Ensures a robust inventory management andcontractor hand-off of materials for the assigned project

  • Establish and implement capital project QualityReporting and Metrics for the assigned project.

  • Assist the Corteva project team to perform the Owner'sQuality role. Establish overall project Quality requirements and anyunique standards/specifications, reviewing and assessing the contractor'sQuality Plans and Programs for fit and appropriateness, definingdeliverables format and content, and then auditing/inspecting thecontractor work process/products to ensure that Quality processes arebeing followed/accomplished, and that deliverables meet Cortevaexpectations.

  • Monitors and tracks contractor work for quality andcompleteness. Provides progress reports on construction activitiesto Project Leadership.

  • Reviews and approves contractor invoicing of completedwork.

  • Provides input into Contractor Safety and providestrend analysis.

  • Ensures critical review and audit processes are inplace and effective (i.e. 100% Design Reviews, field quality audits).

  • Accountable to the Corteva Project Leadership formanaging Contractors’ Safety at Project Sites, for their assigned projectsto ensure that construction contractors are following site and corporatebest practice and policy for managing the safety of all employees on theconstruction site.

  • Drives construction technology applications to advanceconstruction productivity, construction safety, cost effectiveness andcontinuous improvement.

  • Ensure all construction processes of the projects beingmanaged, strictly adhere to the Corteva Corporate/Business IntellectualProperty (IP) / Trade Secrets (TS) content policy.

  • Maximize bringing ‘Outside-In’ from organizations suchas CII, CURT, etc., to advance on Continuous Improvement on ConstructionManagement.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience related to construction management

  • Experience in industrial construction is highly preferable

  • Knowledge of Industry standard best practice in Construction Management,Construction Safety Management and Construction Quality Management

  • Broad understanding of EPC disciplines and activities that arenecessary to design, construct, and start-up plants.

  • Project management skills, budgeting, planning, managing third parties,experience with PM SW (MS Project, Primavera)

  • Experience using the site work permitting processes.

  • Knowledge of best practice for managing safety on the constructionsite.

  • Understanding and detailed knowledge of construction quality andacceptance criteria.

  • Fluent English and French is a must

  • Mobility, willingness to travel up to 50% of the working time
